In certain circumstances (e.g.,surrogacy, known egg and sperm donor arrangements, unmarried partners), FCI requires patients to have legal counsel and a written document prepared with the help of an attorney. Some FCI patients have worked successfully with the following attorneys. FCI always strongly recommends that you work only with attorneys who have a background in reproductive law.
In third-party reproduction arrangements (donor egg or sperm, surrogacy), each party must have separate legal counsel, i.e., two different attorneys, from different law groups. A donor, Surrogate, or intended parent may not waive rights to legal representation.

NOTE: If you plan to use a local egg donor agency, it is wise to postpone selecting an attorney to work with until you decide on an agency. This avoids finding out that your attorney happens to be also representing the agency you have chosen.
